About the Petaluma Walking School Bus
The pilot launches on September 13, 2023, this heartwarming program will see seniors from the PEP Housing donning colorful Fish Kites as they accompany children on their walk to McKinley Elementary School. The Fish Kite symbolizes the unity and collective spirit of the group, much like a school of fish swimming together.
Building Bonds and Ensuring Safety
The Petaluma Walking School Bus serves a dual purpose. It not only promotes exercise and physical activity but also fosters connections between seniors and children, enhancing the sense of community in Petaluma. By walking together, our seniors become mentors, and our children, in turn, learn valuable life lessons from their elders.
In addition to building bonds, safety is a top priority. The Petaluma Walking School Bus ensures that children arrive at school safely and on time. With the support of PPSC, this program will provide a safe and enjoyable journey for all involved.
