Serving the residents of Petaluma
Fair Housing Petaluma offers free, non-biased services available to all tenants, agents and landlords who live in, manage or own property in Petaluma. Problems relating to rental housing such as eviction, 3-day Notice to Vacate, rent increases, unpaid rent, repairs, reasonable accommodations, damages, deposits, privacy, discrimination or lease and rental agreement questions. Fair Housing workshops will be presented to organizations such as the Realtors Association, property owners and property managers and cover Housing Practices.
The federal Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, familial status (families with children), and disability. In addition to these classifications, California law prohibits discrimination on the basis of ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, source of income, and other arbitrary discrimination based on personal characteristics, such as “age.”
