PPSC RYSE (Resources for Youth Success and Employment) assists young people (16-24 years of age) in Sonoma County on the road from adolescence to adulthood. Whether you are seeking your first entry-level job, or the education and training needed for a lifelong career, we can help you develop and achieve your goals. We recognize that the path to stable employment includes not only education and opportunity, but also foundational skills and social support. For young adults ages 16-24, personalized long-term case management is available to address serious barriers in the way of success. Special consideration is given to marginalized or at-risk populations, particularly those who are not in school. 

If you are interested in enrolling in the PPSC RYSE program, you may fill out our interest form, call 707-765-8488 ext 106, or email RYSE@petalumapeople.org. Once your interest form has been received, you’ll complete a 5-10 minute screening to ensure you qualify for the program before you schedule your enrollment session.

You will be asked to bring the following documents to your Enrollment Session:

• Birth Certificate 

• Social Security Card 

• Photo ID (passport, CA ID, CA Driver’s License) 

• Proof of Address (CA ID/DL, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, Sonoma County Library Card, etc)

• Pay Stubs for the last 6 months, if employed in the last 6 months

• Selective Service Registration (Link), if applicable

• HS Diploma, if graduated

• HS Transcript, if did not complete high school

• Proof of qualifying barrier (Justice-Involved, Unhoused, HS Dropout, Disability, IEP/504 Plan, Pregnant/Parenting, Foster Youth, etc)

Enrollment Session: The enrollment session takes a total of 2.5 hours (you can choose if you want to complete this in one day or over several sessions). During this session, you will learn more about the RYSE program, sign paperwork, complete a reading assessment and a math assessment, create a CalJOBS account.

Approval: As the PPSC RYSE program is overseen by Sonoma County, your completed application will be approved by Sonoma County. Once your application has been approved, you will meet with your Career and Education Specialist.

Session 1: During your first session, you will complete a Career Assessment and learn more about the labor market.

Session 2: During your second session, you will complete a Career Map, defining your short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals.

Session 3 and beyond: During your third session and all session thereafter, you will be actively working toward you career goals. This may include creating or updating your resume, practicing interview skills, career exploration, job search support, informational interviews, financial literacy, job training programs, post secondary education, leadership skills, volunteer opportunities, and more! At minimum, you must meet with your Career and Education Specialist once a month to work toward your career goals. You can meet with your Career and Education Specialist as often as once a week to work toward your career goals.
