PPSC has been at the heart of the Petaluma community for nearly four decades.  It consists of 52 human services programs based on best practice research with measurable outcomes. We are a community of caregivers existing within the larger community whose sole purpose is to help make people’s lives better. We strive to do this one child, one adult, and one senior at a time. Last year we served over 7,000 people through our programs. The hands-on, face-to-face support that individuals receive from PPSC is wide ranging; counseling, job placement, daily hot meals, rides to the doctor, case management, financial assistance for homeless prevention, information and referrals.  We are looking for innovative, business savvy and driven individuals to become part of our Executive Management Team.

PPSC is seeking qualified candidates to assume the roles and responsibilities of Employment Services Director and Director of Counseling and Prevention. This position can be filled with one highly qualified and motivated candidate or with two uniquely qualified individuals. The candidates will be responsible the management, supervision and delivery of employment-related training, placement, and retention services to assist unemployed and underemployed youth and adults to reach sustainable employment with family supporting wages. The qualified candidate works to create effective pathways to employment by training, developing and managing programs and by supervising and developing staff members who provide employment services. Both the Employment Services Director and Counseling and Prevention Director will ensure that programs provide culturally inclusive, trauma-informed services that incorporate best practice techniques.  Candidates for the Employment Department Director should possess fifth year college or university program certificate, or two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

As the Director of Counseling and Prevention candidates will be expected to perform highly advanced (senior-level) managerial work and provide direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning related to the Counseling and Prevention Department. Work involves establishing the strategic plan and goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and reviewing and approving budgets. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Work is performed under minimal supervision and performance is based on the effective operation of the administrative function. This positions requires a candidate that can complete and plan day to day operations while keeping the future vision and sustainability of the department in focus at all times. Qualified candidates for Director of Counseling and Prevention should be California-licensed psychotherapist (LCSW, MFT, Psy.) and or Master’s Degree or experience in a related field (must possess clinical knowledge) with a minimum of two years administrative experience.

The individual or individuals we are seeking must have a positive and supportive attitudes toward the agency and its overall success. This position provides both clinical and personnel supervision of the clinical staff. Must have the ability to think globally, solve problems and have good decision-making skills, including critical thinking skills. Qualified candidates will possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of Employment Services administration objectives, employment services laws, polices, rules and regulations, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to provide administrative guidance within area o f responsibility, providing direct training, supervision and direct services as needed
  • Knowledge of personnel practices, labor relations, and equal employment opportunity policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal legislative processes.
  • Knowledge of state government organization and functions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local relationships that impact the operations of the employment department.
  • Knowledge of PPSC employment policies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation, using manpower, time, funds, and other resources for the accomplishment of long-term and short-term goals of the agency.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with funders, community members, department directors, all administrative staff and subordinates and the public.
  • Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively -orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Proven experience understanding and demonstrated ability to generate revenues for clinical services.
  • Experience and confidence identifying and implementing evidence based practices.
  • Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively -orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases.
