Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) – The Pathway to Income Equity

The Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program aims to alleviate financial stressors felt by pregnant and parenting families with young children in Sonoma County, particularly those low-income and BIPOC families who were already vulnerable or marginalized prior to the pandemic. The Pathway to Income Equity program will award 305 randomly selected qualifying Sonoma County residents $500 a month for 2 years.

A guaranteed income reduces economic inequality and helps close racial wealth gaps by redistributing income. Households get $500/month if eligible and selected, thanks to Pathway to Income Equity.

PROGRAM ELEGIBILITY:

  • Pregnant and/or parent/guardian of a child 0-5 years of age
  • Income at less than 185% of Federal Poverty Level ($42,606 for family of 3 people)
  • Impacted by COVID-19 (loss of income, housing instability)
  • Sonoma County resident
