Rohnert Park – Be a part of Something Bigger!
Need a RIDE? Yes! Answer many older adults. More than 20 percent of Americans age 65 and older don’t drive, according to an analysis of the federal government’s National Household Travel Survey by AARP’s Public Policy Institute.
This month iRIDE Rohnert Park, PPSC’s Volunteer Driver Program launches our successful program in Rohnert Park. PPSC is one of 5 agencies that provide free rides to Sonoma County’s most in need community members, seniors! Remaining self-reliant in their own home is important to the health of aging seniors. There does however come a point where we can no longer drive and may become homebound. Many older adults will outlive their ability to drive, but still need to get to important places like the doctor or grocery store.
Volunteering with us is an opportunity to give back to the community and help those in need. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact PPSC, admin@petalumapeople.org. Last year, collectively the Sonoma County Volunteer Driver Programs provided 10,225 rides to 531 seniors. They made a difference in people’s lives and so can you!
Call PPSC today to find out how you can become a valued member of this exciting team of Volunteer Drivers helping seniors in Rohnert Park. #bepartofsomethingbigger
